Creating a plastic-free future as part of the sustainable packaging community

8th December 2020

Imagine a future where there is no plastic or glass packaging on the shelves of healthcare stores. That packaging made from these materials are now made from renewable resources and can be recycled or returned to nature without harm.

As consumers become more and more sensitive to "reduce, reuse, recycle" in their day to day lives, it's essential for companies to convey these same values within their brands. Not only to help the environment, but also to increase brand loyalty amongst eco-conscious consumers.

Millennials and generation Z are pushing brands to be more socially and environmentally responsible and consumers want to associate with brands that are environmentally focused.

As an example, "80 billion plastic bottles are produced every year and 80% of the plastic bottle end up in landfills". In the pharmaceutical field, and particularly in the food supplement area, the majority of primary packaging is plastic, and 100% not recyclable.

SANOFI CHC Open innovation seeks to pioneer the transformation towards bottle and jar sustainable packaging in the pharmaceutical field, propelled by innovation and the insight that every industry must adapt and play their part to create a better tomorrow.

SANOFI CHC Open Innovation is in the process of evaluating different eco-friendly, sustainable packaging solutions for food supplements.

Together, lets work towards a plastic-free future as an active part of the sustainable packaging community.
